To Our Valued Patients:

We hope this letter finds you and your loved ones in good health. Our community has been through a great deal since the pandemic started and we are all looking forward to resuming our normal routines. We are excited to welcome you to our office. It is important for you to know that we have taken great care to ensure that our office is a safe place to visit.

While many things have changed, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to your safety. Infection control has always been a top priority for our practice and you may have seen this during your visits to our office. Our recent renovation involved installing a state of the art sterilization area that exceeded the provincial regulations for disinfection and sterilization.

You will see several changes at our office when it is time for your next appointment. Your patience is greatly appreciated as we take these necessary steps to ensure the safety of our team and our patients at this critical time.

Here are some of the changes you can expect:

  1. Our office will communicate with you before your appointment to ask that you complete a COVID-19 dental treatment consent form and an up to date patient medical history form which may be found here.

  2. In order to respect social distancing guidelines, our waiting room will have limited capacity.

  3. In order to limit the number of individuals in our office at any given time, we request that you come to your appointment alone. If it is necessary for you to be accompanied by a caregiver, we ask that they drop you off into our care and then return to our office upon completion of your appointment.

  4. Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients. That may mean that you are offered fewer options for scheduling your appointment.

  5. Hand sanitizer has been made available throughout the office. We ask that you use the sanitizer immediately upon entering the facility.

  6. You will be escorted directly into an examination room as quickly as possible upon arrival.

  7. We ask that you wear a medical grade mask over your nose and mouth until asked to remove it.

  8. Our team will be screened daily to ensure that the staff are healthy when treating you.

  9. You may be asked to use a mouth rinse prior to starting treatment.

  10. We will continue to use Rubber Dams to help reduce aerosol.

  11. We will use ASTM Level III masks combined with a face shield while providing treatment.

  12. Disinfection of all critical care touch points in the circle of care and sterilization of the facilities will occur on a daily basis.

Thank you for your understanding during the next several months. We look forward to seeing all of our wonderful patients again soon!

Best Regards,
Dr. Teri Norfolk and Dr. James Chen
